Wisconsin Judicare, Inc. is seeking an intake specialist in its office located in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Judicare, Inc. is a non-profit civil legal aid organization funded by the federal Legal Services Corporation, the Wisconsin Trust Account Foundation, and other public and private sources.  Wisconsin Judicare provides civil legal services to low-income persons in the northern 33 counties of Wisconsin, as well as the 11 federally recognized Indian tribes.  

Essential Duties

Supervisory Relationships - reports to Intake Supervisor
  • Processing financial applications
  • Telephone intake, referrals, and screening of clients
  • Schedule client appointments with staff attorneys
  • Routine clerical work such as filing and electronic data processing
  • Provide back-up assistance to other intake personnel
  • Receptionist duties as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Comfortable with frequently talking on the telephone and operating a multi-line telephone console
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Professional and friendly demeanor
  • Strong communication skills: greeting clients tactfully and courteously, answering questions in person and over the telephone
  • Ability to gather and process a large amount of information in a short period of time
  • Commitment to working collaboratively and flexibly with a variety of Judicare staff and community  members, and meeting their needs and requirements
  • Ability to work independently and consistently with office quality standards, rules, and policies
  • Making arithmetic calculations based on financial information
  • Recognizing and maintaining confidentiality of work materials as necessary

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.
Desirable qualifications: Excellent interpersonal skills and bilingual (Hmong or Spanish)

Salary

Starting salary depends upon experience and qualifications. This full-time position includes full fringe benefits, which currently consist of health, dental, life and disability insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, and vacation and sick time.
