Wisconsin Judicare, Inc. is a non-profit civil legal aid organization funded by the federal Legal Services Corporation, the Wisconsin Trust Account Foundation, and other public and private sources.  Wisconsin Judicare provides civil legal services to low-income persons in the northern 33 counties of Wisconsin, as well as the 11 federally recognized Indian tribes.  

Essential Duties

Supervisory Relationships - reports to Civil Unit Lead Attorney and Deputy Director
  • Generate documents and assume authority for file management - including but not limited to: Preparation of correspondence, coordination of projects and reports, drafting court documents
  • Schedule and screen clients for attorneys
  • Research, collect, and compile data for attorneys and special projects
  • Assist in monitoring court cases and provide updates to staff attorneys on a regular basis
  • Coordinate with offsite vendors for office services
  • Provide administrative support
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and attention to detail required
  • Professional and friendly demeanor
  • An interest in technology is preferred
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment within parameters of office policies
  • Demonstration of responsibility and dependability when completing assignments; planning and organizing work according to established priorities; timely completion of assignments
  • Commitment to working collaboratively and flexibly with a variety of Judicare staff, Board of Directors, stakeholders, and community members, and meeting their needs and requirements
  • Ability to work independently and consistently with office quality standards
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize projects impacting the work of others

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree combined with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience; experience in non-profit or law office setting preferred.

Compensation

Compensation depends upon experience and qualifications. This full-time position includes full fringe benefits, which currently consist of health, dental, life and disability insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, and vacation and sick time.
