JUDICARE MEDIATION SERVICES

MARATHON COUNTY COURT SYSTEM

If you have a small claims action or other court-ordered mediation requirement in Marathon County, Judicare offers free mediation to help you resolve your dispute before the court hearing.

YOU MUST CONTACT JUDICARE at mediation@judicare.org or call 715-842-1681.

Even if you have not yet filed a lawsuit, you can still request Judicare to mediate a dispute between you and another party.

WHAT IS MEDIATION?

Judicare Mediation Services provides free mediation to the Marathon County court system. Mediation is the process of assisting people in resolving their disputes before court intervention, and trained volunteer mediators assist in finding a resolution acceptable to all sides. Judicare is seeking to add volunteer mediators as the program is growing to address increased case loads. To volunteer you don’t need to be an attorney, rather just a desire and ability to listen and help parties determine what’s important to them. We generally reach a settlement agreement about 80% of the time. Volunteers take a forty hour course and we are conducting our next session beginning November 15th.

HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER?

We will be training new volunteer mediators in a free forty hour zoom course on November 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30th, and December 6 and 7th.  Classes will be from 9 to 2 each day.  To get the free training, mediators are asked to commit to the program for as long as they can, but we are very flexible as to the specific times you can mediate.

TO VOLUNTEER:

Download the application below and email the completed application to: mediation@judicare.org, or mail to Wisconsin Judicare Inc., Attention Mediation Services, P.O. Box 6100, Wausau, WI 54402-6100.

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to call 715-842-1681 and ask for Mediation Services.
