James Botsford is the Director of the Indian Law office of Wisconsin Judicare. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota, his M.A. from Syracuse University (both in the area of world religions), and his law degree from the University of North Dakota. He has practiced exclusively in the area of Indian law since 1984. Mr. Botsford also serves as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. He is a member of the bars of Wisconsin and Minnesota. In addition, Mr. Botsford is admitted to practice in the following tribal courts: Lac du Flambeau, Menominee, St. Croix, Omaha, and Winnebago (Nebraska). He serves on the Steering Committee of the National Association of Indian Legal Services. He served three years on the Board of Directors of the Nebraska Civil Liberties Union before moving to Wisconsin in January, 1991. Sunshine Lemieux is a staff attorney in Wisconsin Judicare’s Indian Law Office. Attorney Lemieux is an enrolled member of the Wisconsin Bad River Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. A 2005 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, Ms. Lemieux received her Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 2000. Ms. Lemieux is a member of the Wisconsin Bar and admitted to practice in the Menominee and Sokaogan Tribal Courts.
While in law school, Ms. Lemieux interned with the Supreme Court of Wisconsin, Children’s Court Improvement Program, was V.P. of Recruitment for the Indigenous Law Student Association, Editor of the Legal Education Opportunities Annual Newsletter, and a recipient of the UW Law School American Indian Alumni Award and Public Service Fellowship.
Ms. Lemieux currently serves as a member on the Convention Committee for the State Bar of Wisconsin Annual Convention and is an American Bar Association scholar for a leadership program with the ABA's Young Lawyers Division- Minorities in the Profession. Ms. Lemieux’s main practice area focuses on child custody issues involving the Indian Child Welfare Act, as well as Consumer Law, Social Security and Public Benefits. Tsilos Kosbab is a 3rd year law student at the University of Wisconsin Law School. She is focusing on general practice and Federal Indian Law. She served on the Law School's Indigenous Law Student Association (ILSA) Board for 2006-2007.
