Wisconsin Judicare, Inc., Announces Hiring of New Executive Director

Wisconsin Judicare, Inc., is pleased to announce the hiring of Attorney Kimberly Haas as its new Executive Director. Haas succeeds Rosemary R. Elbert, who worked in various capacities at Wisconsin Judicare for over 15 years and retired on April 15, 2015, after 10 years as the executive director. Wisconsin Judicare, founded in 1966, has been at the forefront of civil legal aid in Northern Wisconsin for almost five decades. Haas is a strong leader with great passion for Wisconsin Judicare’s mission and clients.

Haas, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Superior and William Mitchell Law School, has been an attorney at Wisconsin Judicare for eight and a half years, focusing on Tax and Family law. Haas was a recipient of Minnesota’s "Up and Coming Attorney” in 2004 and received recognition from both the Committee Against Domestic Abuse for Inspiring Hope in 2003 and The Women’s Community for Outstanding Services in Supporting Domestic Violence Victims in 2013. She is currently the director and treasurer of the Wisconsin Equal Justice Fund and is on the Paralegal Program Advisory Committee for Globe University and Rasmussen College, as well as being a member of the Wisconsin Board of Bar Examiners.

Haas was selected after a nationwide search that produced some highly qualified candidates. When asked what made Attorney Haas stand out as a candidate for this position, Judicare Board Member and Associate Counsel for Sentry Insurance Brad Corbett responded, "[Attorney Haas] has shown an exceptional commitment to providing legal assistance to underprivileged clients and to the Wisconsin Judicare program. [She’s] a self-described "lifer” in the legal aid community. [Haas’s] long association with Judicare made her the only candidate able to pick up the reins on day one and move our program forward.”

"I am honored to serve as Wisconsin Judicare’s next Executive Director,” said Haas. "I look forward to continuing Wisconsin Judicare’s mission of serving low-income residents of Northern Wisconsin in their struggle for equal access to justice.”

Haas was serving as the Interim Executive Director and began assuming this new role on June 22, 2015.Wisconsin Judicare is grateful to Attorney Haas for taking on this role and has every confidence that she will guide us toward continued success.
