Join Wisconsin Judicare's Panel of Attorneys

Wisconsin Judicare invites attorneys and tribal court lay advocates to participate in the Judicare program.   Since 1966, private attorneys in northern Wisconsin have made Judicare a success by handling cases for low-income clients at reduced hourly rates.   Attorneys participating are paid $45.00 per hour and lay advocates are paid $30.00 per hour for cases approved by our program.  The Judicare program covers a wide variety of civil cases including but not limited to consumer, education, family, health, housing, income maintenance, and individual rights.   We need your help to continue this success.

One of the benefits of becoming a panel attorney is free Continuing Legal Education credits (CLE). The Wisconsin Judicare staff regularly sponsor CLE seminars that are free for attorneys and lay advocates who participate in our program. The Judicare staff is also available to provide back-up support to private attorneys and lay advocates on Judicare cases in the form of legal research or research materials.  Judicare also provides secondary malpractice insurance.

Attorneys who represent low-income clients through Wisconsin Judicare gain valuable experience in new areas of law while developing their own clientele.  Once your name is added to the list of distinguished participating attorneys, you can receive these benefits while performing a public service helping low-income clients who cannot afford to pay their own legal fees.  As a new participating attorney, to remain on the Judicare panel, you are required to provide limited pro bono hours by taking one extended case or five initial consultations for counsel and advice to our eligible clients within the first twelve months.

Please help continue the great partnership between Wisconsin Judicare and the private bar in serving the low-income population of  northern Wisconsin.

If you are interested in participating in the Wisconsin Judicare program or if you would like more information regarding the Judicare program, please contact Wisconsin Judicare's Pro Bono Director, Marka Henkelman, at 715-842-1681 or 800-472-1638 or email her at mhenkelman@judicare.org.  The enrollment form can also be mailed or faxed to our office.
